What you ask for is not unreasonable. There are affordable places to live in most all states. The trick is to find a job in one of them. An area with many job opportunties will be growing quickly and so will the cost of living. I once lived in a town of 465 people and worked in the local school district. If you didn't work for the district, you probably didn't work at all. The economy was sound for a small amount of people. There were less jobs but less people looking for them. I was hired because of some unique talents not found in that community. We quickly made friends but decided to move because of the weather. To date, we've lived in 6 states and don't regret moving to any of them. HOME will always be CP and I'll always miss the old home town but I can't say we've regretted the moves. We made new friends everywhere we've been and still in contact with some of them. In my line of work, I've found that when I live in an area providing less income, there is a much less cost of living. All things relative.
