Hmmm. I thought they did. Well, maybe 30 years ago.
When I was a kid, I used to ride a bike up and down Fairview Avenue to hang out with friends down there. I remember getting caught up in a thunderstorm and getting drenched while I was walking the bike up the hill. It didn't melt me, so I guess I'm none the worse.
I couldn't imagine taking a taxicab. It would be a pretty good adventure walking up Edgewater Ave.
I plugged in Broad and Shaler to the High School and it would be a 1.83 mile walk. That's about the same as walking Palisades Avenue from North Bergen to Fort Lee.
