1939 to 1947 is when I lived in Cliffside Park. what a wonderful town it was. The streets were lined with chestnut trees. The seed pods use to fall on us as we walked to school. the cone shaped flowers were beautiful when in bloom. the little gardens in each of the houses had flowers blooming almost all year.
the town would close off a street so we kids could slay ride in the winter. the Scouts would go on a hike every weekend to the edge of town where the trees grew all along the cliffs. when you got to the north end of town the only thing you saw was trees and bushes and wild flowers.from the edge of town to the town of Fort Lee there was one road going along the river and you could see the river.in Cliffside there were empty lots where we could play tarzen or Cowboys and indians after the movie on saturday.i don't think I have to tell you about Cliffside Park now.just look around you. trees are gone. no woods to play in. no place to go on a hike with out a car.
Sad Isn't it, but that's the price of progress
over 50 percent of the people have asthma
50 years ago there were very few cases of asthma.
here are the facts
trees give off oxygin------- we take in Oxyginwe give off carbon dioxide --trees take in carbon dioxide
now that the trees are gone.we need to write our city council and mayor to stop building and lining their pockets with our money and start planting more trees and how about a park in Cliffside Park.
not much chance of that. no money in a park.
.we give off carbon dioxide
