Garage Sale Inquiry

Does anyone know what the laws are about having a Moving sale? Can you post things on telephone poles, do you need a permit, etc? Since every place I have lived is different just wondering.
I am in an apartment and want to have a moving sale, but was unsure what the laws were about that or where to find the information.
