John,
I started this post by asking a legitimate question.
I take exception with your statement (“it is amazing how some people will try to take a legitimate organizations fundraising attempt and try to make it look like scam just because they are volunteers or a family member of a volunteer.”) and your judgment of me!!
I am not a firefighter (nor volunteer), and none of my family, friends, or immediate neighbors is either.
I'm just a normal taxpaying resident who got a request for money.
Apparently there has been some bad blood before about our fire service.
Frankly that doesn't concern me and that's not what this is about (you guys can hash that out between yourselves, just leave me out of it!).
Initially I also said that if this were a legitimate cause, the people in charge of it would understand and not be offended by my inquiring.
So I guess this answers my question.
No money for you, I'll send it to a more deserving, more open charity.
