As all of you can tell, there is a little bitterness between the paid career members of the FMBA and the volly's as they like to call us, which is an upgrade from what they used to call us, which was "scabs". To for once set it staight, there has been and always will be a volunteer fire service in CP, in fact before the career fire service. The vollys never went away and we were always here. How can a person degrade someone, who leaves his family at a moments notice to help other people, total strangers, and possibly loose his or her life in doing so for free, not for a paycheck, but for the goodness of his or her heart and soul. Every time these guys like John and Past FMBA member post and knock us, you must really look like a bitter soul, a heartless fool to all who read these posts. All can see that all you really care about is money, not the people and not the community. These members do it for free, why don't you guys who are past members join the vollys ? I know why, you got no heart, if you aren't getting paid to do it, you refuse, sounds pretty sad to me. You say we go to the Firehouse EXPO, yes we do, we sent 2 guys last year, to get valuable training from veteran firefighters from all over the world, so they can bring the knowledge back and train the rest of us to make us better and safer, and unlike you when I say us I mean the Volllys and the community. Fort Lee sends 15-20 guys, and they get paid for it, we don't we sent 2 cause that is all we had the money for, and we did't pay them a dime, all we pay is the class fee. But what would you know about that, you don't do anything without being paid overtime for it, again you got no heart no commitment to the town. Sad though, they give you a good job, pension, salary, benefits, paid sick leave, vacation, and you still complain. Does the taxpayers of the town know that you guys sleep and watch TV all day, yes correct sleep, complain and watch TV all day. I hope the mayor or the taxpayers walk in one day and see how you earn those checks, asleep or watching TV, or complaining when an ambulance call comes in.Then you try to say we just buy beer, please what a joke, I hope all the people that read this feel free to come down to the firehouse anytime you want. If the doors are open come in, we will be glad to show you around, and I assure you, you will not find anyone drinking as stated by these sorry souls. After you check that we are sober, we will show you where these guys are, but get ready to laugh, because most likley you will have to wake them up, or turn the lights on and disturb them from watching TV, at all hours of the day. Why does DPW have to be out in trucks and get garbage to get paid, why can't we sleep and get paid like these guys do. Oh they work hard right, I don't think so, they have 1/2 the calls that Fort Lee has. So what do they do all day, come see for yourself. Well hopefully you were given some info here and again stop by and see us volly's any time you want, if we are there we are always awake, and will be happy to show you around the firehouse. But keep it down we don't want to disturb any employees who are asllep at 1:00 in the afternoon. This does not go for all.
