That is absolutely untrue. Spanish people are not given preferential treatment. My family and I had to take the same test as everyone else and answer the questions in English.
I happen to agree with you that it is important to learn english. However, the following objectives must take priority:
1. Getting a legal job (which ofcourse means they are here legally. No one should support illegal immigration)
2. Pay taxes.
3. Make sure their children are getting an education.
I dont care what language someone speaks so long as they are here legally, work hard, pay taxes and raise their kids to respect the ideals of this country.
One more thing, look at those brave Americans who have died in Iraq in the service of their country. See how many of them are the children of spanish immigrants?
I think there is one thing we all agree on.......WE ARE LUCKY TO BE AMERICANS.
