NO BUDDYS BUSINESS
1st of all you don't make friends or gain respect with such user name. Cops are civil servants, like firefighters, sanitary workers and public school teachers oh I forgot to add elected officials. It is every tax payer’s business to know how our taxes being spent, that includes cop’s salaries. I would be hard pressed to find someone who will be against compensating the cops fairly and reasonably. However, there are other public servants too, which are equally important for a vitality of a community. Imagine you are a head of household and you have children with lots of needs, you have limited budget to go around. What you do? Do you allocate most of your sources to one kid on the expense of the others or you try to balance each kid’s needs with your resources.
My point is, cop’s pay came up during a discussion of how much teachers are being paid in CP and some posters drew parallels between the pay scales of the two professions. It turns out cops are better off financially than teachers. This may explain why we have a decent police service but only so- so schools. I don’t know if this is the only factor as a matter of fact, but it is worth talking about it.
Finally , I am sure during your training ( I am assuming you are a cop) you were thought how to stay calm and respectful even when you think you were unfairly provoked .
