I appreciate what you're saying but let me tell you many teachers spend a lot more time than from 9 to 3:00 in a classroom and not coaching. Children have different needs and sometimes we spend a lot of time trying to meet them. There are the teacher's conferences, meetings that must be kept to keep up to speed on new things, what is going on, the laws that constantly tie our hands along with some parent who like things this way. Teaching hasn't been a 9 to 3 job in a very long time. In our district, principals only get off 3 weeks at the most. They have to be back first. Teachers get on average, 4 weeks off now, not the entire summer. Many have to take classes to hone up their skills. And where do think they can go with salaries of $32,000? I work in a district and am qualified to be in the classroom. I work in operations because I can't afford to be in the classroom. But don't miss-understand me, I am not complaining. I contribute the only way I and 4 dependants permit me.
Peace
